Instructions
1. Prepare the Steak
Thinly slice the steak against the grain. If using ground beef, brown it in a pan.
2. Sauté the Vegetables
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and peppers; cook until softened (6-8 minutes). Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Set aside.
3. Cook the Steak
In the same skillet, add the steak (or ground beef) and cook until browned (5-7 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Don’t overcook!
4. Make the Sauce
Add beef broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard (if using) to the skillet. Simmer 3-5 minutes until thickened. Adjust seasoning.
5. Assemble the Casserole
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer cooked steak and vegetables in a 9×13 inch casserole dish. Pour sauce over the top.
6. Add the Cheese
Sprinkle with provolone (and mozzarella, if using) and Parmesan cheese.
7. Bake
Bake 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 2-3 minutes for extra browning.
8. Garnish and Serve
Let rest 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley (optional) and serve hot. Enjoy with roasted vegetables or a salad!
