Cozy Classic Chicken Noodle Soup Made Easy

Preparing Your Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

This recipe is easily adaptable to your preferred cooking method – stovetop or slow cooker. Let’s start with building that flavorful broth.

Preparing the Broth

A flavorful broth is the foundation of a great soup. Use chicken broth or stock, and enhance it with your favorite herbs and spices. For a slow cooker version, simply combine all ingredients and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Cooking the Chicken

Add your chicken to the broth and cook until tender. In a slow cooker, this will happen naturally during the long simmer.

Adding Vegetables and Noodles

Once the chicken is cooked, add your diced carrots, celery, and onions. Classic egg noodles are perfect, but feel free to experiment! Add them about 10-15 minutes before serving to avoid overcooking. For a slow cooker, add vegetables and noodles during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs
  • 4 cups chicken broth or stock
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup egg noodles
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
