Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prep
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
Step 2: Slice the Croissants
Carefully slice the croissants in half lengthwise, but don’t cut all the way through – leave one edge intact to create a “book”.
Step 3: Add Mustard (Optional)
If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard inside each croissant half.
Step 4: Assemble
Place 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of cheese inside each croissant. Close them up!
Step 5: Butter & Bake
Mix melted butter and honey (if using). Brush generously over the croissants. Sprinkle with poppy seeds (optional).
Step 6: Bake to Golden Perfection
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the croissants are golden and crispy.
Step 7: Serve & Enjoy!
Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and enjoy warm!
Cook’s Notes
- Cheese Choice: Swiss, cheddar, Gruyère, or provolone all work great!
- Mustard: Dijon mustard adds a tangy kick, but feel free to omit.
- Baking Tip: Keep an eye on them to prevent over-browning.
Variations
Turkey & Brie
Swap the ham for turkey and the cheese for brie for a gourmet upgrade.
Spinach & Feta
Add fresh spinach and crumbled feta for a savory, healthy twist.
Sweet & Savory
Layer apricot preserves inside before adding the ham and cheese for a unique flavor combination.
Serving Suggestions
